VA Medical Center to Break Ground on New MRI Facility
September 29, 2011
The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center (JCMVAMC) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a $1.4 million magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility on Oct. 3.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at 2 p.m. at the north end of the medical center.
JCMVAMC does not currently provide MRI services and has to send Veterans to outside facilities for detailed imaging that is not possible with computed tomography (CT) scanning alone.
“We are delighted that our Veterans will benefit from the most up-to-date imaging technology and further advance our diagnostic capabilities,” said Dr. Vijay Aggarwal, chief of Radiology Service. “The addition of this new on-site MRI imaging facility will greatly benefit our inpatients, as well as our outpatients by providing them with convenient and timely services.”
The MRI facility will be able to serve more than 2,000 Veterans annually, who would otherwise have to be sent to private facilities for these services. Work on the 3,607-square-foot facility is expected to be completed in June 2012.
