VA to Partner with Zarrow International School for End Homeless Veteran Challenge

November 14, 2018

The Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System (EOVAHCS) is partnering with Zarrow International Student Council for the “End Veteran Homelessness Challenge”.

The student council will compete with other student councils across the county to raise the most funds and collect the most household goods and clothing for Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

This is part of a new collaboration between the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the American Student Council Association, and the Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Programs Office to help meet at-risk and homeless Veterans’ needs for affordable housing and everyday household essentials.

To kick off the partnership, EOVAHCS Homeless Program staff, including an Iraq War Veteran, will talk with students at Zarrow International on Friday, November 16 at 8:30 a.m. about homelessness in the Tulsa community. Zarrow International is located at 3613 S. Hudson Ave., Tulsa.

For more information, contact Melanie Stewart-Goldman, VA Homeless Program Manager, at melanie.goldman@va.gov or Raquel Astacio-Haley, Zarrow International Tulsa Public Schools, at astacra@tulsaschools.org.
